Hello Blessed One.

It's a blessed day and you have the right to rejoice and be glad because God made this day just for you.

From the last piece, I mentioned that I was going to share some insights with you on what I believe God had in mind for Abraham as regards the killing of his son. I already prepared to share 2 insights but later had to restrict it to one because I considered that the first reason I wrote down might not have been a valid reason. So, I'll be sharing just an insight with us today.

The intention of God was not for Isaac to die. He was only putting Abraham to a test. God's instructions are given to redirect or reinforce our worship to him. His instructions bring us to a point of remembering or proving our love and allegiance to him where nothing else really matters but Him.

The truth is that with God at the center of our lives, nothing else really matters. Putting God at the center of our lives brings everything else into proper alignment.

It is interesting to note that when God gave Abraham this instruction, he did not plead with God to let Isaac live before Him unlike Ishmael's case. In the case of Ishmael, Abraham declared after God promised a child, "O that Ishmael might live before thee!" He was in unbelief at this time because to him, having a son at age 99 was practically impossible. But in the case of offering Isaac, He just decided to believe and obey knowing that God was able to raise him up from the dead (Hebrews 11:19).

What was the instruction really? Hear what God said to Abraham: "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah. Offer him there as a burnt offering in one of the mountains, which I will show you." Wow! Just look at how God was specific in his instructions. Note that this came after 25 years of waiting for this boy, and grooming him.

Abraham's obedience to sacrifice Isaac was a portent to the death of Christ. It was a shadow of what was to come which is, God offering up His own Son so that we can be saved. As I said earlier, God didn't intend that Isaac should be put to death so He provided a spotless ram which symbolizes Jesus in the new covenant.

Isaac was not a perfect sacrifice. Jesus was the perfect sacrifice for you and I. That's the only insight I consider to be very credible and completely aligned to God's heart in regard to Abraham sacrificing his son.
